Little Acorns – Nursery
We are very pleased to have a Nursery provision at Leconfield. Children are eligible to attend Nursery from the term following their 3rd birthday. Nursery children are called Little Acorns and are part of our Acorns Class which is for Reception and Nursery.
Funding
We offer 15 hours for all children the term after they turn 3 years old. We can also offer 30 hours for eligible families. Eligibility for 30 hours funding can be checked at https://www.gov.uk/free-childcare-if-working/check-youre-eligible
If you are not eligible for 30 hours free childcare, additional sessions can be purchased, subject to availability, at a cost of £8.00 per hour.
Our school week is split into 10 sessions as follows:-
Morning sessions which begin at 8.45am and end at 11.45am
Afternoon sessions which begin at 12.30pm and end at 3.30pm
Lunchtimes
The nursery children are very welcome to stay over lunchtime and we find this really helps with the transition into Reception. If your child is eligible to attend for 30 hours, lunchtime sessions are incorporated into the sessions four days per week. Additional hours can be paid for to cover the fifth lunch and afternoon session if required. The cost of a school lunch is £2.75 per day and this must be booked and paid for on our booking system in advance. Alternatively, you are welcome to provide your child with a packed lunch.
Changes to contracts
Changes to contracts must be made through the school office and can only be done prior to the start of a new term for example in July for Autumn Term, December for Spring Term or March for Summer Term.
Whilst in Nursery children have access to our continuous provision and are also included in group sessions such as Phonics. Our EYFS classroom is divided into different areas and children have free choice of which area they would like to spend their time each day. We have provision inside and outside and the children have access to both in all weathers. We encourage children to become independent learners and explore new things each day. Each week the provision changes and new activities are included for the pupils to explore.
Our school values of We ROCK encourage pupils to become independent, confident learners. Respectful, Open minded, Curious and Kind.
